138 Joralemon Street has stood in Brooklyn Heights since 1855, inside what's now the first historic district New York City ever designated. INPUT's work here was restoration as much as design.
Inside, the kitchen island doesn't stop at a corner. The Calacatta Caldia marble rounds off at one end in a single radius edge, sweeping from the countertop into the cabinetry below without a mitered joint. Custom solid oak cabinetry runs floor to ceiling everywhere else, then breaks at a shallow reveal where the cooking wall sits behind pale cabinetry.
The primary bath wraps the tub and shower in a single run of Green Nile marble, dark and heavily veined, banded in brass at every seam so the wall reads as large panels rather than one sheet. A second bath takes the opposite approach: a fluted oak vanity, the reeding cut straight into the wood, under a Calacatta Green marble top.
The reclaimed arched mantel finds new life, repositioned from its original place to a new location that will serve the owners for generations to come.
