At 55 Eckford Street in Greenpoint, the arch shows up before anything else does. Walnut-clad coves nest one inside the next down the entry corridor, each one rounding the ceiling into the next, leading past a curved stone reception desk toward the lounge.
That same arch keeps traveling through the building. It frames the doorway into the gym, holding its shape even as the material around it switches from plaster to something built for sweat and steel. In the kids' room it shrinks and turns playful: a rounded doorway, a porthole cut into curved millwork, the same idea scaled down for someone three feet tall.
The curve behind those arches turns up again where it isn't expected. The kitchen island rounds off at one corner instead of squaring to a point. In the resident lounge, the columns holding up the ceiling are cast round and plastered smooth, picking up the same geometry as the desk at the front door.
In the kitchen itself, walnut cabinetry runs floor to ceiling, broken by a single slab of Quartzite Cristallo Fire behind the range, tall enough to read as its own panel rather than a backsplash.
